When most people think of Sin City, these days they think of the Strip, but the locals know that one of the most notorious destinations in the city is Old Vegas. Freemont Street looks so bright and tourist-friendly throughout the day and during the night's Freemont Street Experience performances, but Old Vegas has a dark reputation after hours. The prevalence of prostitution, drugs and crime is so high that children aren't allowed there at night. Most of these old casinos originally had mob ties, and many people speculate that they still do..
The Hard Rock is another infamous off-Strip hotel. This rockin' property notoriously attracts the hip young party crowd. The Hard Rock plays home to many of Las Vegas' hottest clubs, but even the public areas like the pool are surrounded by speculation (rumor has it some of the pool's rowdier patrons got a little too cozy in the water). At one point the room service menu reportedly included handcuffs and sex toys, so it should come as no surprise that some of Hollywood's most gossip-worthy hookups actually happened at the Hard Rock in Vegas.
For years, the Rio was a relatively quiet property thanks to its very off-strip location, but when the WSOP moved there in 2005 it brought all the excitement that comes with thousands of eccentric poker players. The site has since seen plenty of crazy prop bets and even some poker-related fights.
If you're looking for something to talk about on the Strip, then you'll find it at Hooters. How couldn't Hooters be infamous? Few other people or places have the chutzpah to publicly put so much emphasis on the female anatomy. The entire property is staffed from reception to the pool with orange shorts-wearing Hooters girls, but that doesn't prevent the hotel from offering couple-friendly Vegas classics like a 24-hour wedding chapel.
